To Tokyo and Back Again
To Tokyo and Back Again is a photobook created using film photos taken by myself during a trip to Japan in 2019. Since the sheer volume of photos I had to work with was overwhelming, the book is broken into subsections: nature and environmental surroundings, transportation, nightlife, architecture, food, and typographical signage. Each section includes photography, both black and white and color, and scanned images from found materials such as packaging, maps, brochures, tickets, and stickers. The result is a comprehensive book with layouts that vary from section to section, capturing both the quiet beauty of the Japanese landscape and the overwhelming vibrancy of city life.
